Emotion, Identity, and Connection

Parenting can stir every emotion imaginable—especially while navigating the layered realities of queer identity, relationships, and work–life balance. 

This 8-week psychodynamic support group offers a space for queer parents and co-parents to explore their experiences, strengthen emotional regulation through DBT skills, and deepen self-understanding in the context of family and community.

Together, we’ll reflect on identity, communication, and parenting strategies, building resilience and connection along the way.

DBT Skills for Emotional Balance

A 6-Week Group for Adults Seeking Greater Emotional Stability & Connection

​

Emotional intensity can be both a source of vitality and a source of pain. When life feels overwhelming, relationships strained, or self-criticism constant, it can be hard to stay grounded and steady. This group offers a supportive space to learn concrete skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and mindful awareness — so you can respond to life’s challenges with more clarity and compassion.

We’ll focus on:

​

  • Emotion Regulation: Understanding emotions and building strategies to ride the waves without shutting down or exploding

  • Distress Tolerance: Finding new ways to cope when things feel overwhelming

  • Interpersonal Effectiveness: Communicating needs, setting boundaries, and sustaining connection

  • Mindfulness: Learning to pause, observe, and respond from your center rather than react from old patterns

 

Grounded in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and held within a trauma-informed, relational framework, this group integrates mindfulness, self-compassion, and somatic awareness practices. Participants are invited to reflect on their inner experience with curiosity and to build skills that support a fuller, steadier life.
