Anna Calabrese, LMSW
Therapist
I possess a profound fascination with the human quest to derive meaning from life’s raw materials. With a unique dual training in clinical social work and theology, my therapeutic practice thrives on integrating mind, body, and spirit. I adeptly blend various therapeutic modalities, including Depth Psychology, Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I offer individual, couples, and group therapy sessions, viewing each interaction asa relational journey toward deepening one’s sacred connection to self and others. Focussing on trauma, addiction, LGBTQ+ issues, life transitions, and eating disorders, she underscores the importance of relationships in facilitating personal growth and healing.
My approach to therapy is anything but conventional. I incorporate diverse mediums such as art, writing, movement, nature, film, and music into the healing process. Additionally, I help clients craft meaningful ceremonies and rituals for pivotal moments in their lives, including professional transitions, relationship milestones, and journeys through addiction recovery.
My academic background includes a BA in Creative Writing from the New School, a Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary, and a Master of Social Work from Columbia University. My professional experiences range from serving as a Chaplain in a hospital to counseling on Rikers Island and collaborating with Buddhist monks on end-of-life care. Throughout my journey, I remain grounded in a simple truth: regardless of circumstance, people seek to imbue their lives with meaning and passion.
